5 reasons for using electromobility
4. March 2020The founding of Quantron AG
In recent years, it has become clear that there has been a rethinking of drive types in the automotive industry. Over time, more and more electrically powered vehicles could be seen on the streets. In the commercial vehicle industry, however, there is hardly any reliance placed on vehicle electrification. In view of this, Andreas Haller founded Quantron AG, a spin-off of Haller GmbH & Co. KG, in July 2019.
What does the name QUANTRON actually mean?
The name QUANTRON stands for innovation (QUAN-tensprung (German) = QUAN-tum leap (English)). At the same time, it should create the link to e-mobility (elec-tro-mobility). By combining the two terms, the name QUANTRON was finally born.
What is the basis of Quantron AG?
The basis of Quantron AG derives from the commercial vehicle experience of Haller GmbH & Co. KG. The Gersthofen-based family company has been around since 1882 and is now managed in the fifth generation by Andreas Haller. The Haller company was founded in 1882 as a horse-drawn carriage business. In the course of modernization, the company later specialized in motorized taxis, agricultural machinery and commercial vehicles. Haller’s next step was towards e-mobility. Quantron AG can thus fall back on the more than 138 years of experience of the Haller company.
What range of products does Quantron AG offer its customers?
Quantron AG electrifies customers’ used and existing vehicles but also offers new e-vehicles for sale. However, the focus is clearly on the electrification of commercial vehicles (3.49 to 44 metric tons) and buses in accordance with the sustainability concept, Q-Repowering. The basis for this is a used or existing vehicle. Firstly, the complete drive train is removed (engine, transmission, exhaust system, tank). These parts go back to the manufacturer or a third-party supplier and are given a second life as spare parts. This is followed by the refurbishment phase, i.e. the complete preparation of the vehicle (exterior, interior, paint). After completion, the new drive system is installed (electric motor, power electronics, batteries; additional fuel cells for H2 and H2 tanks). Subsequently, the future drivers are briefed and trained in order to ensure a smooth and energy-efficient use of the electric vehicles. Finally, the converted and now environmentally-friendly e-vehicle is handed over to the customer. At Quantron AG, the customer receives everything from a single source. The specialists at Quantron AG analyze the status quo with customers and provide support through the correct on-site charging infrastructure as well as advising on state subsidies, financing and leasing.
The future of Quantron AG
Quantron AG will continue to grow in the future. Currently, a new headquarters including production is being built in Koblenzer Straße in Augsburg. Many new jobs have already been created since the company was founded in July. In the next few years, an increase up to 200 employees is planned. Capacities are also to be expanded so that Quantron AG can convert approximately 1,000 vehicles per year. In addition, another stand is being built together with the Turkish partner Karsan so that a production capacity of up to 5,000 vehicles per year can be achieved.
